Software that does the job
The next generation of work software will not help you do the work. It will do the work. What that changes for founders building it.
Zoha Ventures, July 28, 2026
For thirty years, work software has been a set of better tools. A faster spreadsheet, a cleaner inbox, a project board that syncs. Every one of them assumed a person doing the job, and tried to make that person more efficient.
The products being built now make a different assumption. The model does the job. The person decides, reviews and owns the outcome.
What changes
A team of ten with a tool becomes a team of one with a model. Pricing shifts from seats to outcomes, because there are fewer seats and the outcome is what the customer is buying. The product’s competitor is not another tool. It is a hire, or a contractor, or the work simply not getting done.
What stays the same
Trust. The reason people are slow to hand work to a model is not capability. It is that they cannot see what it did, cannot correct it cheaply, and cannot tell their boss why it went wrong. The winning products in this category are the ones that make the model’s work legible: what it did, why, and what it wants you to check. That is a design problem, and it is where taste matters more than benchmarks.
What we look for
Founders who have done the job themselves and know which parts a model should own and which parts a person must. Products that start narrow, one job done completely, rather than broad. Distribution that does not depend on convincing a large company to change its process on day one.
We think this is one of the largest categories of the decade, and that it is still early enough that the eventual winners have not been founded yet. If you are building one, we would like to talk.
