What we believe

A short statement of where we think the world is going and what we intend to do about it.

In 1995 the internet was slow, ugly and mostly useless. A few people could see that it would touch everything. They were right, and it still took thirty years.

AI is at the same point, except it is not slow, it is not useless, and it will not take thirty years. A model that can read, write, see, plan and act is a new substrate for daily life, the same way the browser was. The companies built on it will be larger than the companies built on the web, because this time the technology does work instead of routing it.

We think the biggest changes will show up in three places: how we work, how we live, and how we turn intentions into results. That is not a sector. It is the whole day. We chose it because it is where the model touches a person directly, and where the winners will earn trust, not just usage.

We are a small fund, and we think that is an advantage right now. Great AI companies are getting built by two people with a model and a weekend. They need a first believer, a fast yes, and introductions to the people who were early last time. They do not need a board seat and a fifty-page term sheet.

We will get some of this wrong. The internet analogy breaks in places we cannot see yet, and a fund this size cannot own much of anything. What we can do is be first, be useful, and be right about the founders more often than the market is.

The name comes from the Arabic word for the brightness of early morning. It is the light you see before the rest of the day arrives. That is where we invest.

Where we look

Work

Software that does the job, not software that helps you do it.

Agents that own outcomes. Tools that collapse ten-person workflows into one person and a model. The companies here will look less like SaaS and more like teammates.

Life

Health, money, learning and home, rebuilt around a model that knows you.

The internet gave everyone a search box. AI gives everyone an expert on call. We back the products that make that expert trustworthy, private and worth paying for.

Productivity

The new interface between people and their intentions.

Notes, calendars, inboxes and documents were built for humans typing. The next generation is built for humans deciding while models execute. Whoever wins this owns the workday.

What we look for in a founder

  • A view of the world that is slightly ahead of it. You can describe, in plain language, what daily life looks like once your product exists.
  • Distribution instincts. The model is the easy part. Getting a million people to change a habit is the company.
  • Speed as a personality trait. You ship weekly and you can tell us what you learned last week.
  • Taste. AI products fail on trust before they fail on capability. You care what it feels like.
